June 28, 2025 — QuantumBWprogram line launched
Call for proposals: Transfer booster for quantum technology demonstrators
What is funded:
The aim of this program line is to bring the most promising prototypes from laboratory and research environments to the most relevant markets.
Who gets funded:
Eligible applicants are academic research institutions based in Baden-Württemberg that receive institutional funding from the state or the federal government and the federal states, i.e., universities, universities of applied sciences, or non-university research institutions. Companies based or with a branch in Baden-Württemberg can participate as project partners at their own expense, but will not receive direct funding for their project-related expenses.
Depending on the applicant institution, funding is provided separately by the ministries: The Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts is responsible for funding universities, universities of applied sciences, the Max Planck Society (MPG), and the Helmholtz Association, while the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Tourism funds projects of the Fraunhofer Society, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the non-university research institutes of the Innovation Alliance Baden-Württemberg e. V. (innBW).
Projects from all quantum technologies that aim at market-oriented implementation of applications are eligible for funding. Due to the application orientation and special pioneering role of Baden-Württemberg, project proposals from the field of quantum sensor technology and metrology are particularly welcome, but projects from areas such as positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) may also be submitted. Project proposals from the field of quantum computing are not the focus of this call for proposals.
How is it funded:
Funding is available for science-driven research and development projects. Funding is provided in the form of project funding as a non-repayable grant. A total of €3 million in state funding is available for Transfer Booster projects. Individual Transfer Booster projects can receive a total of up to €500,000 in funding for a period of up to 12 months. Funding is scheduled to begin (project start) on November 15, 2025.
Who funds:
The QuantumBW program line “Application Demonstrators” is jointly funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Tourism.
