Coordi\u00adnated by the Univer\u00adsity of Stuttgart and led by Prof. Stefanie Barz, QCyber is research\u00ading how quantum appli\u00adca\u00adtions can be used securely and practi\u00adcally in real networks with multi\u00adple&nbsp;users.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/module_free_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][module_free_text spacebefore=\u201cspacebefore-none\u201d spaceafter=\u201cspaceafter\u2011m\u201d indentbefore=\u201cindentbefore-xs\u201d indentafter=\u201cindentafter-xs\u201d bgcolor=\u201d\u201d moduleeffect=\u201ceffect-media\u201d]<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"font-size-s\">The project addresses a key challenge of digital sover\u00adeignty: while quantum comput\u00aders could attack classic encryp\u00adtion methods in the future, quantum commu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion sets new standards in eaves\u00addrop\u00adping security. QCyber goes a decisive step further by inves\u00adti\u00adgat\u00ading not only point-to-point connec\u00adtions, but also networks with up to six nodes over distances of up to 20 km in the Stuttgart fiber optic network.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"font-size-s\">The focus is on multi-user-capable quantum appli\u00adca\u00adtions with high relevance for diplo\u00admacy, finance, indus\u00adtry, and public administration\u2014such as secure, anony\u00admous multi-party commu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion, distrib\u00aduted infor\u00adma\u00adtion sharing only through the cooper\u00ada\u00adtion of multi\u00adple actors, \u201cquantum e\u2011voting,\u201d and approaches for future quantum-based cloud comput\u00ading. The aim is to combine basic research with concrete appli\u00adca\u00adtion scenar\u00adios, thereby strength\u00aden\u00ading Germany\u2019s and Europe\u2019s techno\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal sover\u00adeignty in the field of IT security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"font-size-s\">A special feature of QCyber is the field test in the real campus-wide fiber optic network in Stuttgart, which connects the Vaihin\u00adgen and Stadt\u00admitte locations. In cooper\u00ada\u00adtion with the associ\u00adated partner Nokia, which provides additional test tracks, the hardware and software solutions devel\u00adoped by the project partners are tested under real condi\u00adtions and their integra\u00adtion into exist\u00ading cyber\u00adse\u00adcu\u00adrity archi\u00adtec\u00adtures is examined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"font-size-s\">Poten\u00adtial end users are involved at an early stage through workshops with indus\u00adtry partners at ARENA2036 on the Vaihin\u00adgen campus. Possi\u00adble areas of appli\u00adca\u00adtion range from secure vehicle-to-infrastructure commu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion and the protec\u00adtion of networked produc\u00adtion facil\u00adi\u00adties in smart facto\u00adries to confi\u00adden\u00adtial data trans\u00admis\u00adsion between compa\u00adnies, suppli\u00aders, and cloud services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"font-size-s\">The QuantumBW innova\u00adtion campus sees QCyber as a key project that combines the strengths of the Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg quantum ecosys\u00adtem: excel\u00adlent research, real-world test infra\u00adstruc\u00adtures, and close ties with indus\u00adtry.
