The state is there\u00adfore funding the estab\u00adlish\u00adment of a gradu\u00adate school in the future disci\u00adpline of quantum technol\u00adogy with 4.7 million euros. In partic\u00adu\u00adlar, the new gradu\u00adate school will strengthen the Quantum<sup>BW<\/sup> innova\u00adtion campus and promote exchange between the state univer\u00adsi\u00adties and with indus\u00adtry. It will be managed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iqst.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Integrated Quantum Science and Technol\u00adogy<\/a> (IQST).<\/span>\n\n<span class=\"font-size-s\">\u201cQuantum technol\u00adogy offers unimag\u00adined possi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties \u2014 from high-performance quantum comput\u00aders and ultra-sensitive sensors to naviga\u00adtion in space. In order for the leap from theory to practice to succeed, we need excel\u00adlently trained special\u00adists for science and indus\u00adtry. The new gradu\u00adate school with ten doctoral positions takes our Quantum<sup>BW<\/sup> innova\u00adtion campus to the next level and further strength\u00adens Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg as a research and business location,\u201d said Science Minis\u00adter Petra Olschowski on July 10 in Stuttgart.<\/span>[\/module_free_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][module_free_text spacebefore=\u201cspacebefore-none\u201d spaceafter=\u201cspaceafter\u2011m\u201d indentbefore=\u201cindentbefore-xs\u201d indentafter=\u201cindentafter-xs\u201d bgcolor=\u201d\u201d moduleeffect=\u201ceffect-media\u201d]\n<h3><span class=\"font-size-m font-weight-l\">Trans\u00adfer from science to application&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n<span class=\"font-size-s\">The Ministry of Science is funding the ten doctoral positions at the IQST Gradu\u00adate School @Quantum<sup>BW<\/sup> for an initial period of four years. Gradu\u00adate schools enable a struc\u00adtured doctor\u00adate \u2014 often with additional seminars and super\u00advi\u00adsion. The new insti\u00adtu\u00adtion is not limited to one location, but is open to young researchers from all univer\u00adsi\u00adties in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg. Each doctoral project is led by a research insti\u00adtu\u00adtion and accom\u00adpa\u00adnied by at least one indus\u00adtrial partner. This model promotes both the trans\u00adfer from science to practice and the connec\u00adtion between indus\u00adtry and univer\u00adsity research.<\/span>\n\n<span class=\"font-size-s\">\u201cWithin the Gradu\u00adate School, we support projects that bridge the gap between basic research and technol\u00adogy devel\u00adop\u00adment. These are projects with high techno\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal poten\u00adtial, but which are still at an early stage of devel\u00adop\u00adment. In this way, we create a link to practice,\u201d said Prof. Dr. Stefanie Barz, coordi\u00adna\u00adtor of the Gradu\u00adate School.<\/span>\n\n<span class=\"font-size-s\">Researchers from Stuttgart and Ulm, together with partners from all over Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg, have been pooling their exper\u00adtise in basic research and application-oriented research in the field of quantum technol\u00adogy at IQST for many years. A partic\u00adu\u00adlar focus of the IQST is the train\u00ading of doctoral students. The new gradu\u00adate school brings these estab\u00adlished struc\u00adtures together with the Quantum<sup>BW<\/sup> innova\u00adtion campus.<\/span>\n\n<span class=\"font-size-s\">The main research fields to be addressed within the IQST Gradu\u00adate School @QuantumBW are:<\/span>\n<ul>\n \t<li><span class=\"font-size-s\">Quantum sensor technol\u00adogy and metrology<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><span class=\"font-size-s\">Quantum comput\u00ading and quantum informatics<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><span class=\"font-size-s\">Integrated quantum technolo\u00adgies, integrated quantum photon\u00adics and quantum materials<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><span class=\"font-size-s\">Quantum networks<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Text-18pt\"><span class=\"font-size-s\">In addition, train\u00ading and quali\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion measures are offered on topics such as trans\u00adfer, founda\u00adtion or intel\u00adlec\u00adtual property (IP). These train\u00ading courses are also open to doctoral students from other quantum initia\u00adtives in the state. In this way, the doctoral network and the quantum commu\u00adnity in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg will continue to grow.
