Bridg\u00ading the gap between quantum technolo\u00adgies and appli\u00adca\u00adtions for the automo\u00adtive sector \u2014 that was the aim of the cross-clustering event on Novem\u00adber 23, 2023 at the BRYCKE in Stuttgart.<\/p>\n

The Networks Photon\u00adics BW, Elektro\u00admo\u00adbil\u00adit\u00e4t S\u00fcd-West, Brennstof\u00adfzelle BW and Intel\u00adli\u00adgent Move organized the cross-clustering event Quantum Technolo\u00adgies meet Automo\u00adtive with the support of the Regio\u00adClus\u00adter\u00adA\u00adgen\u00adtur for innova\u00adtion and trans\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adtion in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg in order to identify cross-industry and cross-technology syner\u00adgies and highlight the appli\u00adca\u00adtion poten\u00adtial of quantum technologies.<\/p>\n

Silvia Anna Palka, Regio\u00adClus\u00adter\u00adA\u00adgen\u00adtur, welcomed the partic\u00adi\u00adpants to the event. In her welcome address, she empha\u00adsized: \u201cCross-cluster projects accel\u00ader\u00adate innova\u00adtion. In line with the BRYCKE motto, \u2018let\u2019s make ideas happen\u2019, I wish you all fruit\u00adful discus\u00adsions\u201d. A total of over 60 discus\u00adsions were held in five rounds. Tobias D\u00fcrr, Economic Devel\u00adop\u00adment Agency of the City of Stuttgart, provided the creative pop-up space BRYCKE as an inspir\u00ading venue.<\/p>\n

Dr. Andreas Ehrhardt, Manag\u00ading Direc\u00adtor of Photon\u00adics BW, then presented the innova\u00adtion network for optical technolo\u00adgies and quantum technolo\u00adgies in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg as well as QuantumBW<\/sup> as a new state initia\u00adtive to promote quantum technologies.<\/p>\n

Felic\u00adi\u00adtas Behr, Network Manager of the Cluster Elektro\u00admo\u00adbil\u00adit\u00e4t S\u00fcd-West, presented the individ\u00adual networks and areas of respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adity of the state agency e\u2011mobil BW GmbH. The Cluster Elektro\u00admo\u00adbil\u00adit\u00e4t S\u00fcd-West offers over 200 players from indus\u00adtry and research a neutral platform for sharing experi\u00adences and devel\u00adop\u00ading new technolo\u00adgies and sustain\u00adable concepts. Key topics include new devel\u00adop\u00adments in the battery value chain. In addition to the extrac\u00adtion of raw materi\u00adals and the produc\u00adtion of cells, packs and modules, this also includes the battery manage\u00adment system as well as second-life appli\u00adca\u00adtions and recycling. The expan\u00adsion of hydro\u00adgen and fuel cell technol\u00adogy in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg is being driven forward by the cluster Brennstof\u00adfzelle BW. The Intel\u00adli\u00adgent Move network is dedicated to the topics of digital mobil\u00adity, in partic\u00adu\u00adlar digital infra\u00adstruc\u00adture, digital vehicles and digital services.<\/p>\n

Three special\u00adist presen\u00adta\u00adtions then highlighted best practices and poten\u00adtial appli\u00adca\u00adtions of quantum technolo\u00adgies for the automo\u00adtive indus\u00adtry. The session was moder\u00adated by Andre Salzinger, Project Manager Quantum Technolo\u00adgies at Photon\u00adics BW. Dr. Florian Kienle, Head of Atomic Gyroscope, and Dr. Robert R\u00f6lver, Head of Magnetic Sensing at Q.ANT GmbH, presented two differ\u00adent quantum sensors for naviga\u00adtion appli\u00adca\u00adtions. Atomic gyroscopes can be used to measure the small\u00adest accel\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtions and rotations. In addition, diamond-based magne\u00adtome\u00adters enable spatial orien\u00adta\u00adtion using finely resolved magnetic field gradi\u00adents. Dr. Mumma\u00adnen Bharad\u00adwaj Chowdary, researcher at Fraunhofer IAO, dedicated his presen\u00adta\u00adtion to routing and charg\u00ading plan optimiza\u00adtion for electro\u00admo\u00adbil\u00adity. Here, digital and analog quantum comput\u00aders offer the possi\u00adbil\u00adity of solving complex logis\u00adtics problems very efficiently. Dr. Chris\u00adt\u00adian Osterkamp, Manag\u00ading Direc\u00adtor and co-founder of Diatope GmbH, provided further insights into quantum sensor technol\u00adogy for improved battery manage\u00adment thanks to precise current measurement.<\/p>\n

The presen\u00adta\u00adtions were followed by various match\u00admak\u00ading rounds, initially in larger groups and then in targeted 1:1 meetings. This gave the partic\u00adi\u00adpants the oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to find common start\u00ading points for cooperation.<\/p>\n

After the match\u00admak\u00ading session, Tobias R\u00f6sch presented the federal government\u2019s Research and Innova\u00adtion funding advisory service and current funding programs and gave valuable tips on how to apply.<\/p>\n

The partic\u00adi\u00adpants then had another oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity for personal network\u00ading and to deepen their contacts at a cozy get-together.<\/p>\n

Follow\u00ading the success\u00adful launch of the cross-clustering event Quantum Technolo\u00adgies meet Automo\u00adtive, further events with new fields of appli\u00adca\u00adtion are planned.<\/p>\n

The cross-cluster event was also supported by the Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism.<\/p>\n
